Alabama WR DeVonta Smith had one of the biggest catches in Crimson Tide history during this year’s National Championship Game, hauling in Tua Tagovailoa’s 2nd-and-26 heave for the game-winning touchdown in overtime.

However, this spring, he’s trying his hand at a different position, according to a report from Alabama reporter Charlie Potter.

According to Potter, Smith was spotted working with the cornerbacks during the first spring practice on Tuesday:

Whether or not Smith makes a full switch to the position has yet to be determined, but it is an interesting choice by coach Nick Saban.

The Tide need some corners to step up this year, but they also have a need at receiver after losing star Calvin Ridley to the NFL Draft.
