It’s quite possible that no one has more stories about Tim Tebow’s time at Florida than new Gator coach Dan Mullen, who served as offensive coordinator during the star quarterback’s career.

On Wednesday, Mullen was speaking at a student group meeting on Florida’s campus, and told a great story about Tebow’s kindness.

He discussed the time Tebow went out of his way to make a fan happy, but didn’t realize she was legitimately asking him out to dinner (via 247Sports):

“I remember, I think he was either a freshman or a sophomore, we’re coming out to practice,” Mullen said. “There’s a girl sitting there on the benches coming out of practices, the whole setup was different back then, and you’d walk back from practice.

“And there’s this girl with a cast on her leg. And she’s sitting there … she’s like ‘Tim, Tim, any chance you could sign my cast?’

“And he’s like ‘Oh, sure.’ Signs the cast Tim Tebow, she said ‘Oh my God, that’s the sweetest thing, can I get a picture?’

“‘Oh, sure.’

“Takes the picture. She’s like ‘would you like to go out and have some dinner sometime or something?’

“He’s like ‘Oh, you’re so silly’ and he walks in and goes back.

“I mean I’m just walking next to him shaking my head, like ‘That is unbelievable, man. Unbelievable.’ And he just walks away into the locker room. I’m just walking in the whole time with him. He was like ‘Oh, she was just being silly.’

“I’m like ‘Dude, she was definitely not being silly.'”

Tebow probably got asked on more than a few dinner dates during his time in Gainesville, but this does illustrate just how kind he was to fans.

As he continues his minor-league baseball career, he continues to show his appreciation for those who fill the stands to watch him play.
