This week was a costly one for Kentucky on the field as senior linebacker Jordan Jones has been lost due to injury. Mark Stoops announced the news Thursday during his most recent media availability.

Here’s what Stoops offered up on Jones when asked about his senior defender.

“Jordan Jones is going to be out for the remainder of the spring,” Stoops revealed. “He got injured Tuesday in practice, and he will require surgery on his shoulder. We expect a full recovery that will push it right to August. It’s unfortunate, he’s been getting better, having a really good spring but he had a shoulder injury. He’s getting operated on.”

When asked if this was the same shoulder injury that had affected Jones in the past, Stoops indicated it was not.

“Different injury,” Stoops said.

Jones had 64 tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks and one forced fumble in 2017. In the Tennessee game alone, he registered 13 tackles. He was honored as co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against the Vols.

Kentucky’s first game of the season is Sept. 1 at home against Central Michigan.
