Though Malik Willis and Joey Gatewood handled the quarterback reps during Auburn’s spring game on Saturday, starter Jarrett Stidham still managed to participate.

The injured quarterback, who had surgery on his shoulder this offseason, participated in some lighter work prior to the start of the actual game.

Stidham said he feels like he’s “close” to 100 percent, adding that he enjoyed participating in the 7-on-7 aspects of Saturday’s game (via OANow.com):

“It was good,” Stidham said. “I really, really enjoyed it. I wanted to be a part of this. It’s a big day for the fans, and I want to try to give back to them in any way I can. It was really good to be out there.”

Coach Gus Malzahn said he believes Stidham could play if it was a regular season game, but the Tigers are taking things slow for now.

However, seeing him on the field on Saturday was a good sign for Auburn fans as the spring session came to a close.
