Sanford Stadium has been undergoing a major facelift this offseason, with a $63 million renovation project going toward a new scoreboard, a locker room addition and a recruiting lounge, among other things.

The renovations will make their debut next weekend, when the Bulldogs take the field for their annual G-Day spring game.

This week, coach Kirby Smart said he’s heard everything is on schedule to be ready for next weekend’s action (via 247Sports):

“The input was mainly done way back when, when the plans started, before all the breaking of ground,” Smart said. “So pretty much all that stuff has been done. As far as keeping up with it I see the same pictures I think everybody else does of the new scoreboard and stadium.”

Smart will see the on-field renovations at the same time as everyone else next weekend, and said he can’t wait to take the field for the spring game:

“I haven’t seen anything inside yet,” Smart said. “I don’t even know that they’ve gotten to that. I’m excited they’ve got the sod, the turf back down, and the cranes off the field so we can use it now. And for the G-Day game. I’m certainly excited about the west end zone. It’s going to bring a new face to our recruiting. I think we’re going to have the most premier on-campus stadium recruiting site in the country because we’ll be able to host a lot of prospects. And we’ll have one of the best locker rooms in the country at the stadium.”

Next weekend’s spring game kicks off at 4 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN.
