The Miami Dolphins’ defensive line suffered a huge loss this offseason, as talented-but-unhappy DT Ndamukong Suh went to the Los Angeles Rams.

Now, former LSU DT Davon Godchaux is one of the players who will be counted on to pick up the slack with Suh gone.

This week, he said he’s excited for the opportunity to work his way into a bigger role for the Dolphins after he was a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft (via PalmBeachPost.com):

“Most definitely,” Godchaux said of the extra motivation. “Got to. To replace his shoes, got to. Got to pick up the game. What? Five-time Pro Bowler? Got to pick the game up.

“Always can be better. I think this year you’ll see a lot of improvement each and every day.”

Godchaux appeared in 15 games as a rookie, earning five starts. He recorded 26 tackles and forced one fumble.

Now, though, he’ll be counted on to do even more for a Miami team that has playoff aspirations heading into the 2018 campaign.
