In 2017, former Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara took the NFL by storm, earning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award by having an outstanding season for the New Orleans Saints.

This year, many draft analysts think former Georgia RB Sony Michel could have that same kind of impact. However, Michel isn’t going that far just yet.

According to OnlineAthens.com, Michel said he has a long way to go to earn those comparisons to the Saints star:

“I can’t compare myself,” Michel said. “What was he rookie of the year? I ain’t do nothing. I can’t compare myself to the rookie of the year. I’ve got to go out there and do what Sony got to do. At the end of the day, he’s established his rookie career. I’ve still got so much to do. I can’t listen to comparisons. All it’s doing is feeding into the hype.”

Kamara, who was misused by coach Butch Jones at Tennessee, fell into the third round of the 2017 draft. This week, Michel is likely to go in either the first or second rounds.

From there, he’ll have to prove he can be the kind of dual-threat runner and pass catcher that Kamara was last season.
