What keeps many coaches up at night shouldn’t be an issue for Will Muschamp these days as South Carolina looks to be set at the game’s most important position for a number of seasons. That’s in large part to Jake Bentley still having two seasons of eligibility remaining in Columbia but also due to the fact the Gamecocks currently hold a commitment from California native Ryan Hilinski.

As Hilinski’s stock continues to rise, South Carolina’s 2019 recruiting class looks that much better. As the ringleader of the Gamecocks’ peer recruiting movement, fans need not worry about the California signal caller looking around at his options on the West Coast.

Just as importantly, just because he’s committed to a rising SEC contender like South Carolina doesn’t mean Hilinski is coasting on his accomplishments. Quite the opposite in fact. According to renowned West Coast recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Hilinski continues to progress heading into his senior season of high school football.

That type of comment has got to be encouraging for Muschamp and his program. Already rated as the nation’s No. 6 pro-style QB and the No. 166 overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings, South Carolina is potentially getting an instant impact player at the quarterback position here. Considering the Gamecocks aren’t likely to rush him on the field, that’s only going to help Hilinski when he does get the opportunity to lead the team out onto the field.
