Following in the footsteps of Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was New Jersey’s top prospect in the 2015 recruiting cycle, Antonio Alfano is headed to Tuscaloosa.

Alfano, the No. 1 rated prospect from the state of New Jersey for the 2019 recruiting cycle, announced his commitment to Nick Saban’s program on Friday. The four-star defensive end selected the Crimson Tide over finalists Georgia and Penn State. According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Alfano is the No. 58 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 5 strongside defensive end for the 2019 recruiting class.

The Crimson Tide already had the nation’s top-ranked 2019 recruiting class prior to Alfano’s commitment and have now boosted the program’s advantage on the rest of the nation with his pledge. In total, Alabama now holds commitments from 13 prospects in the 2019 recruiting class. Incredibly, all 13 prospects are rated as either four or five-star recruits.
