If everything works out as planned for the Crimson Tide in the near future, it appears the quarterback position in Tuscaloosa will be in fantastic hands for the next 5-6 years. Considering all the success Nick Saban’s program has achieved without elite quarterback production, that’s got to be frightening to the rest of the SEC.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah got a first-hand look at Tua Tagovailoa and his younger brother, and Alabama 2019 QB commit, Taulia over the weekend during the most recent Elite 11 Finals from Los Angeles and came away very impressed with both young players. While Alabama fans should already know what they have in Tua, according to Jeremiah, they stand to get much of the same from Taulia when he gets to campus.

Here’s what Jeremiah had to say on Birmingham-based WJOX 94.5 FM radio program 3 Man Front after watching both Tagovailoa brothers throw during the site of Elite 11 Finals.

“I got out there to watch the tail end of the high school kids and then I got a chance to visit with the eight college counselors and watch them go through their workouts,” Jeremiah explained. “I was more focused on the college kids but I did see Tua’s little brother throw. I did not see (Auburn QB commit Bo) Nix throw, I heard he did well from talking to some guys there — giving names that jumped out, he was one of them; but I did see Tua’s little brother throw and it looks like a right-handed version of Tua. He has a live arm. He’s got that same square, thick build, the ball jumps out of his hand.”

That’s all Jeremiah had to say about the younger Tagovailoa brother before discussing his thoughts on Tua. What exactly is it about the Alabama quarterback that stands out to the NFL Network analyst?

“His feet are so quick. He is phenomenal in his setup, he’s got a quick delivery, quick release,” Jeremiah continued. “He throws with as much anticipation as any of the quarterbacks that worked out there… The anticipation jumps out at you. The velocity is plenty good, he was great on the move. To be honest with you, the biggest thing to me, he’s a little bit bigger when you are standing next to him than I thought he would be. He pretty much checked every box.”

Jeremiah then went on to explain how Tua treated his son really stood out to him.

“To be honest, my favorite thing about (Tua), I brought my 14-year-old son out there with me — he’s a quarterback going into the ninth grade next year, he got to meet all these guys and they were all very kind to him, very nice to him and Tua went beyond everyone else,” Jeremiah said. “He spent about five minutes with him, giving him all kinds of life advice, as well as football advice and you just kinda say, ‘This guy is a little bit different.’ I love that about him.”

Perhaps unlike any other position in sports, character and leadership can matter just as much as talent for quarterbacks that desire to be truly great. Judging by these comments recently made by one of the most respected NFL talent evaluators, Tua Tagovailoa has all the traits necessary to become the next great NFL quarterback that came from the SEC.
