Jimbo Fisher describes the key characteristic he looks for in Texas A&M players
The Texas A&M Aggies handed former Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher a massive 10-year, $75 million contract this offseason, and now they’re looking to rise to the ranks of the elite programs in the SEC.
Fisher brings a championship pedigree with him to College Station, having won a title during his time with the Seminoles.
On Monday, Fisher spoke with reporters and described one of the key ingredients to success. He said he looks for gritty players who will work hard for everything:
Jimbo Fisher on a key ingredient to success: ‘Grit. You can’t define grit. There’s not a definition for it. … You’ve got to dig your teeth into (a job), and that’s what our kids are learning to do.’

Obviously, looking for grit isn’t a revolutionary idea in the world of coaching, but Fisher is changing the attitude around the Aggies’ program.
Will that translate to more wins right away? That remains to be seen, as A&M has a tough schedule this fall, but Fisher seems to have the team on the right track heading into 2018 and beyond.
