When the Buffalo Bills selected Wyoming QB Josh Allen in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Kentucky LB Josh Allen got a few congratulatory messages.

However, he quickly had to set the record straight, as he’s returning to Lexington for his senior season this fall. Fortunately for him, he’s not bothered by the cases of mistaken identity.

In fact, according to a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Allen revealed that he is friends with the new Buffalo quarterback. He added that he gets confused with his namesake on a daily basis:

SI: How often does someone get you confused with the other Josh Allen?

JA: It’s every day, man. It would happen a lot when mock drafts were coming out. I was getting messages left and right about how I was going to become a No. 1 overall pick. People would text me and say, “Oh, you’re doing so great!” I was like, “What? I’m confused.” It happens. Then I have to tell them that it’s not me. Sorry to get your hopes up.

In the 2019 NFL Draft, though, Buffalo’s Josh Allen could be the one getting congratulatory messages, as the Kentucky linebacker could be a Day 1 pick when the next draft comes around.
