The hot-button issue in Tuscaloosa right now is about who will start at quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide this fall.

The battle is between rising junior Jalen Hurts and rising sophomore Tua Tagovailoa, both of whom are intriguing options.

Coach Nick Saban is tuning out the noise, but that hasn’t stopped people from all over the college football world from weighing in with their opinions. On Saturday, it was former Alabama TE O.J. Howard’s turn.

As you can see below, Howard advocated for a two-quarterback system, using both players’ strengths:

“I think there’s going to be like a dual-quarterback type of thing,” he said. “I think they’re going to split a little bit of time, different packages for each quarterback and then go with the hot hand at the end of the game. That’s at least for the first couple of games.”

Dual-quarterback systems rarely work, but most dual-quarterback systems don’t feature guys as talented as Hurts and Tagovailoa. Saban has a big decision ahead of him, but there’s still plenty of time for him to make it.
