Despite leaving the Alabama football program this offseason, Joe Pendry will remain heavily involved in one of the state’s football programs as the former Crimson Tide advisor will be the general manager for the Birmingham-based Alliance of American Football team.

The yet-to-be-named, at least publicly, Birmingham franchise will be coached by former college and NFL assistant coach Tim Lewis. Pendry had worked for Saban since his arrival in Tuscaloosa, first as a full-time assistant then as an off-the-field assistant starting in 2011.

News of Pendry’s move to the AAF was first reported by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

The official AAF Twitter account recently posted a photo with the league’s football executives. In the photo, you can see Pendry as well as former Alabama radio commentator Phil Savage. Savage has been named GM of the AAF’s Phoenix franchise, which will be coached by former college coach Rick Neuheisel.
