Now that Jeff Long has been hired at Kansas, he may finally have the green light to discuss a potential football series with Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir.

Of course, that wasn’t the case when Long worked in Fayetteville. Arkansas and Arkansas State have never met on the football field and that’s the way the Razorbacks hope to keep it. If past experience is any indication, the two programs are unlikely to ever meet on the gridiron.

That’s something Mohajir poked fun at upon learning that Long had been hired at Kansas. Mohajir joking suggested the possibility of a home-and-home series with Long with the following tweet:

As unlikely as a Power 5 program is to schedule a home-and-home series with a Sun Belt opponent, a Kansas-Arkansas State series looks much more realistic than Arkansas facing its fellow Natural State school anytime soon.

Although, Mohajir did indicate he’s at least reached out to the new Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek since his arrival in Fayetteville.

Will Arkansas and Arkansas State ever meet on the football field?
