Former Alabama head coach Mike DuBose is in the hospital on Monday afternoon, according to reports.

The ex-Crimson Tide football coach reportedly shot himself in the abdomen on accident near Montgomery, Alabama, on Monday afternoon.

Per WSFA, DuBose was taken by helicopter to the hospital after the accidental wound:

Former University of Alabama head football coach Mike Dubose has been transported by medical helicopter to an unspecified hospital after accidentally shooting himself, according to the Covington County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Dubose accidentally shot himself once in the abdomen shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.

Fortunately, the report says the injury is not expected to be life-threatening, but it’s still scary and details aren’t known at this time.

DuBose coached at Alabama from 1997 to 2000, going 24-23 and winning the 1999 SEC Championship.
