Alabama improved its season record to 10-0 Saturday following a terrific defensive performance over No. 16 Mississippi State in the Crimson Tide’s 24-0 shutout win from Tuscaloosa.

The Bulldogs were held to 169 yards of total offense, went one for 13 on third downs, were held without a fourth down conversion on two attempts and turned the ball over once in the game.

Immediately following the win, Nick Saban shared these comment on his team’s defensive performance against Mississippi State with CBS.

“Well, the defense did a great job today. We had a lot of respect for their offense, what they do, their quarterback, the players that they have,” Saban said. “To stop the run like we did, they had one explosive play against us, fantastic job by the defense. Very proud. I think they had an effect on their offense, got a couple of penalties that got them behind the sticks. That really helped.”

The Alabama coach was then asked about his offense getting only three points on the board in the second half, after scoring 21 in the first half.

“You know, we didn’t have much rhythm on offense today,” Saban noted. “They got a lot of pressure on the quarterback, Tua got beat up a little bit, we had some adversity and it was the first time we had an adversity on offense all year long. You gotta learn to respond to it, this will be a good, sorta, learning lesson for us.”

Finally, on Tua Tagovailoa, who left the game and was replaced by Mac Jones, Saban continues to say his QB is fine. Here’s what the Alabama coach said when asked if he had an update on Tua’s status after he left the game due to his injury.

“No, he just got beat up a little bit,” Saban said. “I think he’s fine.”

Alabama hosts the Citadel next weekend before finishing the season against Auburn.
