Kansas City Chiefs promote former Alabama WR to active roster
The Kansas City Chiefs announced Sunday that former Alabama wide receiver Gehrig Dieter has been promoted to the active roster.
The move comes due uncertainty surrounding the status of injured Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins. If Watkins is unable to go Monday night, Dieter will serve as the team’s fifth wideout.
Dieter is in his second season in Kansas City. He signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He was released after not making the active roster in 2017, but was signed by the Chiefs to their practice squad.
Dieter played for three teams in his collegiate career. In 2016, his lone season at Alabama, he logged 15 catches for 214 yards and four touchdowns.
WR Gehrig Dieter has been elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
