After the Tennessee Volunteers saw their 2018 season come to an end at the hands of rival Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon, rumors began swirling about a possible change involving OC Tyson Helton’s position.

Helton, who is in his first year as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator, watched as his unit struggled mightily in the 38-13 loss to the Commodores and got shut out in the first half.

However, despite the rumors, a Tennessee spokesperson said on Sunday morning that the report about Helton’s position isn’t true:

To be fair, this doesn’t mean that Helton’s job is safe, just that no decision has been reached by head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

The Vols’ offseason is now underway, as the loss to the Commodores eliminated them from bowl contention. It’ll be interesting to see how Pruitt handles his staff moving forward.
