The Alabama Crimson Tide are set for a title rematch against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, but this time it’s an SEC title at stake, not a national championship.

Last year, backup QB Tua Tagovailoa came in at halftime and led the Tide on an incredible comeback, but this year, DC Mel Tucker’s defense should be more prepared.

On Saturday morning’s SportsCenter, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit explained that all the extra tape available of Tagovailoa is going to help the Dawgs in Atlanta (via 247Sports):

“You go back to the national championship game and (Georgia assistant) Mel Tucker and that defense (focused) on how to stop Jalen (Hurts) and they maybe thought at that time there’s a chance at Tua,” Herbstreit said. “Now, they have the entire second half to study and the entire regular season to study. One thing is for certain — Kirby Smart knows how to bring pressure. He and Mel Tucker have not worked just this week on the game film, they’ve worked the entire offseason for this game knowing there was a strong possibility of matching up against Alabama in Atlanta today, Tua and this offense.

“The sting .. can you imagine how they feel? They’ve really out-played Alabama much of that game, got a big sack in overtime and were this close to capturing the national championship. There’s been a lot of people talking about Alabama the last 11 or 12 months, but not a lot of people talking about the sting of Georgia and the Georgia defense. They’r going to play with a lot of passion and emotion and I think the game prep will help them with all the film they have to get ready.”

Of course, stopping Tagovailoa hasn’t been easy this year, so even with the extra tape, the Dawgs have a tough job.

Tune in to CBS at 4 p.m. Eastern time to find out if the Dawgs can slow down the Crimson Tide offense.
