Friday is not known for being a busy news day, but Georgia players announcing their departure dominated the headlines.

In a flurry of announcements, TE Isaac Nauta, WR Riley Ridley, WR Mecole Hardman and RB Elijah Holyfield announced they were leaving early for the NFL Draft. Sprinkled in was freshman TE Luke Ford announcing his transfer. The day kicked off with reports that Justin Fields has selected Ohio State as his transfer destination. When the dust settled, six players from the 2018 team had made the decision to leave.

UGA coach Kirby Smart has issued a statement on the four juniors declaring for the draft. He wishes them all the best and hopes that they will complete their degrees. Nauta and the two receivers made up the team’s top-three receivers while Holyfield rushed for 1,018 yards, only 31 behind D’Andre Swift.

“We wish the best to Mecole Hardman, Elijah Holyfield, Isaac Nauta and Riley Ridley as they pursue their careers at the next level. All four of these juniors contributed significantly to our success during the last two seasons and we look forward to them making the best out of their shot at the NFL. As with all our players, we also encourage them to complete their degrees to get prepared for the next chapter of their lives.”
