The Tennessee Volunteers are the No. 1 team in the country, and after a couple of close scares, they showed why they’re the top team on Saturday.

As part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the Vols picked up a big 83-66 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers, overcoming a slow start to get the win at home.

After the game, star F Grant Williams praised the Vol crowd, saying the team feels the love and support that helps it stay on top (via 247Sports):

“Our crowd is amazing,” Williams said. “Our Vol fans are incredible. They do a great job supporting us. They’ve been here since Day 1. For us we’ve always felt like we’re No. 1 because we have all these people surrounding us, and we’re blessed to be in this situation.”

Sadly for Williams and the fanbase, the Vols are on the road at South Carolina and Texas A&M this week, so they won’t get to play at home until Feb. 5.

When the Vols do return to Knoxville, though, they should do so still unbeaten in SEC play, and Vol Nation will show up in force to support this squad.
