Birmingham reportedly interested in co-hosting the Raiders for the 2019 NFL season
The Oakland Raiders are moving to Las Vegas for the 2020 season. The problem? Their stadium isn’t ready yet and they may have burned all their bridges in Oakland for the 2019 campaign.
With a potential season adrift looming, the Raiders are engaged in talks with Oakland about remaining in town for one more year, but other potential suitors are popping up.
One of the strangest proposals comes from Birmingham, which wants to team up with Tucson, Arizona, to host the Raiders this fall:
BREAKING: Birmingham is partnering with Tucson, AZ in an effort to host the @Raiders for the 2019 season. @citycouncilbham William Parker tells me the plan will be for each city to split hosting duties. #RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/xuTohnNEaK

This plan would seemingly have the Raiders playing four “home” games in Tucson and four “home” games in Birmingham. It would be hard for an NFL team to succeed in a situation like that, but the Raiders may not have any other options.
We’ll see what happens with the Oakland talks, but for now, an NFL team could be coming to Alabama (at least for a handful of games).
