Few teams in the nation sent as many participants to the 2019 NFL Combine than Kentucky, but unfortunately, one of those players is leaving the event early before getting an opportunity to showcase what he can do on the field.

Former Wildcat tight end CJ Conrad will not be participating in the drill testing alongside the other draft hopeful tight ends after his physical at the event revealed a heart issue. Following that diagnosis, Conrad decided to leave the event and get a second opinion back in Lexington.

Conrad released the following statement on Twitter explaining his situation:

“Today I was told that I would not be able to participate in the NFL Combine due to a heart issue that came up during my physical. I am headed back to Lexington to receive a second opinion and get more tests done. The goal is to get cleared before March 22nd for my pro day. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I won’t let this stop me from achieving my dream.”

Should his next medical examine return a clean bill of health, Conrad will still have an opportunity to impress NFL Scouts at Kentucky’s March, 22 Pro Day event. During his four-year career in Lexington, Conrad caught 80 passes for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Wildcats.
