Georgia S Latavious Brini was arrested in Athens this past week.

Athens-Clarke County arrest records for the past seven days show that Brini was arrested for simple battery Thursday. He was booked at 8:18 p.m. and released roughly two hours later (10:19 p.m.) on $1,850 bond.

“This type of behavior is extremely disappointing and not representative of the standards for our football student-athletes,” Kirby Smart said in a statement, per the Athens Banner-Herald. “His discipline will be handled internally and hopefully good lessons will be learned that will lead to better choices moving forward.”

A product of Mater Academy Charter (Fla.), Brini is entering his third season with the Bulldogs. He played in five games in 2018 as a redshirt freshman, recording a tackle against Austin Peay. In 2017, he faced felony forgery charges for allegedly producing a counterfeit $100 bill. The case was later dropped due to what was an instance of mistaken identity according to Brini’s attorney.

Multiple Georgia beat reporters shared the news of Brini’s Thursday arrest via social media Saturday.
