Mike Elko’s defense may be losing a good deal of production this offseason but there’s a good chance the Aggie defense features more talent this coming season than it did last fall.

That’s something defensive back Leon O’Neal hints at during a recent video interview with Texas A&M Athletics following one of the early spring practices from College Station.

With six of the team’s top tacklers from last season moving on, there will be plenty of opportunities available for players eager and willing to fill in and produce on the defense. The way O’Neal put it during his media availability, the Aggies are simply reloading this spring.

“Yeah, it’s kinda like when you shoot a gun, you gotta reload,” O’Neal says in the video below. “That’s why you got so many players that are just, you know, learning.”
