The Tennessee Volunteers are fighting to keep coach Rick Barnes in Knoxville after the UCLA Bruins started targeting him as a potential replacement for Steve Alford.

Tennessee fans are brutal on Twitter, though, so when one LA Times reporter seemed to make a mistake in getting fooled by a fake account, Vol Nation obliterated him.

As you can see here, a fake Tennessee fan account pretended to be WBIR Channel 10 and said Barnes had officially taken the job and then Ben Bolch jumped in and said it was a done deal:

Upon realizing it was a fake account, Bolch softened his tweet, saying the two sides were still working toward a deal:

As one might expect, Tennessee fans did not let that mistake slide. The replies to Bolch’s latest tweet were brutal:

Of course, there’s still a chance Barnes goes to UCLA, but it appears reports that surfaced on Monday evening were false. Don’t mess with Vol Twitter.
