When running backs coach Charles Huff left Mississippi State for Alabama this offseason, it didn’t take Joe Moorhead long to find a replacement in Starkville. That’s because Terry Richardson was already on Moorhead’s radar from their time together coaching at UConn.

That’s where Richardson coached last season, as the team’s running backs coach and assistant head coach, but he jumped at his first chance to coach in the SEC when Moorhead offered him the running backs role in Starkville.

“This is a great opportunity to work with great people at an outstanding university in the best conference in America,” Richardson said upon his arrival this offseason. “I am excited to reconnect with Coach Moorhead and work with him again. He is a tremendous football coach and an even better person. We will be well-versed on all five phases of running back play, and our group will maximize our opportunities to make a major impact in winning football games.”

Mississippi State fans may not know much about Richardson or his coaching style at this point but the program is trying to fix that by sharing a practice video of the coach in action this spring leading up to this weekend’s spring game.
