One of the biggest surprises on National Signing Day came in the form of Dwan Mathis (Belleville, Michigan).

Mathis, who was previously committed to Ohio State, flipped his commitment and signed with Georgia to the surprise of many. Of course, Justin Fields was headed to Ohio State. Still, Mathis was a big get for the Dawgs.

Earlier this week, Jake Fromm spoke to the media, and he was asked about Mathis and what he brings to the table.

“Dwan, he’s explosive,” Fromm said. “I think he converted three or four first downs in a row with his legs. The guy can run the ball around; he can throw it 70 yards. He’s going to be a good player.

“He’s made huge strides and really proud of what we’re seeing from him.”

The 4-star early enrollee was ranked as the nation’s No. 11 pro-style QB and the state of Michigan’s No. 9 overall prospect for the class of 2019, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

If there are a few guys who fans are looking forward to seeing in Georgia’s spring game, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Mathis should be at the top of the list.
