Wearing the No. 18 jersey for LSU has been a proud tradition back since QB Matt Mauck led the Tigers to a national championship.

In 2018, TE Foster Moreau got to wear the number because of his leadership, and it’s clear that caught the eye of the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders made Moreau the 137th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday.

As you can see in the video below, coach Jon Gruden is fired up to have Moreau in the fourth round, complimenting him and saying he’ll fit right in with the Raiders:

“You wear that No. 18 for a reason, right?” Gruden asks Moreau, knowing what it means to the LSU program.

Backup QB Nathan Peterman currently has the No. 18 jersey for the Raiders, so we’ll see if Moreau is able to wear it by the time the 2019 season kicks off.
