When you think of Georgia, you probably think “Running Back U” but the way Kirby Smart’s program has been recruiting and developing big men in the trenches, “Offensive Line U” may soon be more appropriate.

Sam Pittman landed him another gem, this time from 6-foot-6, 311-pound Rome native Tate Ratledge of Darlington School, who committed to Georgia over Tennessee Monday morning. Georgia may have the nation’s best offensive line in 2019 but the Dawgs could be losing both starting tackles to the NFL following the season, which opens the path to the field for Ratledge starting in 2020.

Ratledge has seen his stock skyrocket this offseason as he’s currently rated as a borderline five-star prospect following one dominant camp performance after another. Already rated as the nation’s No. 39 overall recruit and the No. 5 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings, Ratledge’s stock is likely to continue to rise by the time he ultimately signs in Athens.

Following Ratledge’s decision, Georgia holds commitments from nine prospects in the 2020 recruiting cycle and his pledge moves Georgia up from the nation’s No. 9 recruiting class to the No. 5 recruiting class. Georgia is the only top 10 recruiting class in the nation with single digit commitments which should give an indication of the quality of the recruits currently committed to Smart’s program.
