Dan Mullen says he 'wouldn't be opposed' to making Florida-Miami a regular series
The Florida Gators already play Florida State every year as one of their nonconference games, but what if they added another in-state foe to the schedule on a regular basis?
That was the question for coach Dan Mullen in Destin, Florida, at the SEC spring meetings on Tuesday. The Gators will play Miami in Week 0 this year, but what if that game took place every year?
Mullen said he’d be open to the idea, but would like to see how things go in Orlando this year before making any firm plans:
I asked Mullen if he'd be open to a #Gators-Miami series. "I wouldn't be opposed to it."
He says to ask after the game, to see the hoopla and buzz around it (regardless of the end result)— Matt Baker (@MBakerTBTimes) May 28, 2019
It would definitely be interesting to have the three major Florida football powers play every year, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed the game in Orlando goes well.
For now, though, it’s just a one-off game between the Hurricanes and Gators.
