Charles Strong was hoping to play this season for Troy. Instead, he’ll be forced to sit out this fall at Troy after leaving the Texas A&M program this offseason.

The NCAA recently denied Strong’s waiver request, sending the message that mostly high-profile quarterbacks at major programs deserve waivers. Players moving from the Power 5 to Group of 5 programs don’t seem to be getting that same luxury this offseason.

Troy head coach Chip Lindsey announced news of Strong’s waiver being declined, according to Justin McNelley of WTVY-TV.

Strong appeared in only one game during his Texas A&M career, rushing for 12 yards last season for the Aggies. The Florida native signed with the Aggies out of Union County High School in Lake Butler, Fla. He was a three-star signee in the program’s 2018 signing class.
