Emmit Gooden’s season may have come to an end this week but instead of feeling down on himself, Tennessee’s senior lineman appears to be taking on the challenge of rehabbing his injury with a passion.

If you missed the news, the interior defensive lineman tore his ACL this week at practice and has been ruled out for the season by Jeremy Pruitt.

“Unfortunately last night, Emmit suffered a knee injury and won’t be with us this year,” Pruitt said on Wednesday. “It’s unfortunate for him and for our football team but Emmit is a guy that has another year. He will continue with going to school and get ready to come back next spring and next fall.”

Without a doubt, this is a blow to Tennessee’s defensive line, which is already dealing with the loss of all three starters from last season. Gooden was penciled in to man one of those starting spots after appearing in 12 games last season and registering 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss and had one sack in his first season with the Vols.

While he is already a senior, Gooden never redshirted and Pruitt said on Wednesday that Gooden would have another year to play at Tennessee.

Following that comment, Gooden released the following message to Vol Nation:
