Chad Morris and his Arkansas coaching staff have had another scrimmage to evaluate their quarterbacks but they still don’t have an answer they are willing to provide regarding which signal-caller will start the season against Portland State.

Morris met with the media on Thursday to share the latest on the ongoing quarterback competition and he didn’t tip his hand in the slightest following the final scrimmage of training camp.

“I thought our quarterbacks did good. Not going to name (starter) today. I thought they did good, I thought they did some really good things,” Morris said. “Thought there were some things to improve on, but overall, thought it was a good scrimmage.”

When asked to share a timeline for naming a starter, Morris would not give a specific date but claimed the answer will come next week.

“We will name one next week at some point,” Morris said.

On if Arkansas could potentially play both of the perceived frontrunners for the job, Nick Starkel and Ben Hicks, in the opener, again, Morris kept things vague.

“That I don’t know at this point,” he offered up. “The game will dictate a lot of that.”

Finally, Morris was asked if he will wait until game time to reveal his starter under center.

“No, we will name one before the game,” Morris said.

At this point, we’ll have to see it to believe it.
