Ed Orgeron praises LSU freshman Derek Stingley Jr.: 'It's like he's been there all his life'
One of the most exciting new players at LSU this fall is 5-star freshman CB Derek Stingley Jr., who is also handling returns.
Stingley had 4 punt returns for 52 yards on Saturday against Georgia Southern, averaging 13 yards per return.
During his radio show on Wednesday night, coach Ed Orgeron said he felt Stingley looked very natural as a return man, praising his poise:
What did Ed Orgeron see from freshman Derek Stingley as a CB and return man?
"Poise. It’s like he’s been there all his life. I thought the young man looked outstanding.”

Big things are expected from Stingley this fall, so we’ll see if he works himself into a bigger role on defense.
For now, though, the early returns are very positive regarding the 5-star freshman. We’ll see what sort of role he plays this weekend at No. 9 Texas.
