South Carolina QB Ryan Hilinski is already mature beyond his years, as he has had to deal with the suicide of his older brother, Tyler.

Tyler, who was a quarterback at Washington State, died in January of 2018. Ryan then went through his senior year of high school and is now South Carolina’s starting quarterback.

During Saturday morning’s edition of College GameDay, a beautiful profile of Hilinski and his family was aired. You can see it below:

The entire Hilinski family has had to deal with this tragedy, but Ryan is the one in the spotlight. Football clearly has become a lot more emotional for him, but he feels closer to Tyler when he’s on the gridiron.

Hilinski and the Gamecocks will take on No. 2 Alabama on Saturday afternoon. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on CBS.
