Auburn has reportedly received a big boost for Saturday’s game at No. 2 LSU.

Jay G. Tate of AuburnSports.com is reporting that Tigers RB Boobee Whitlow traveled with the team to Baton Rouge and has been cleared to play on Saturday.

Whitlow, Auburn’s leading rusher, injured his left knee in the Florida game earlier this month. When Whitlow’s injury was announced he was expected to miss at least a month, but Tate reports that the running back “progressed much more quickly than expected.” A strong ground game could help Auburn win the time of possession battle and keep Joe Burrow and company off the field on Saturday.

In six games, Whitlow logged 110 carries for 544 yards and 7 touchdowns. Without Whitlow, the Tigers still managed 298 rushing yards on 51 carries in a 51-10 win at Arkansas in Week 8.

Saturday’s game is set to air on CBS with a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
