After clinching a potential New Year’s Six bowl appearance with a win over Florida State on Saturday, Florida received news of one of its tight ends entering the transfer portal.

Lucas Krull, a redshirt junior that ended a junior college baseball career to play football for the Gators before the 2018 season, announced on his Twitter account that the program’s upcoming bowl game will be his final appearance with Florida.

A native of Kansas, Krull was used sparingly on offense, making just 3 catches for 33 yards. In 2018, he mainly played on special teams, but made 6 catches for 75 yards and was even involved in a key trick play against LSU. However, with Kyle Pitts ahead of him in the depth chart — and talented Keon Zipperer in 2020, playing time was going to be hard to come by, making the decision understandable.

Krull will gain his degree in December, after which he will be immediately eligible to play in 2020 for any school he chooses.
