FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd took to the airwaves on Thursday to make his picks of the top 3 college football games of the weekend. Among them, of course, is the SEC championship game, featuring LSU as a 7-point favorite over Georgia in Atlanta.

Cowherd picked LSU to cover, and not only cover but do so “big”, feeling that the Tigers’ offense would overcome the Bulldogs’ defense, as well as take advantage of some missing pieces from Georgia’s sideline. He specifically alluded to Lawrence Cager being out due to injury and George Pickens being suspended for the 1st half.

“This receiving corps…not a lot of over the top components,” he said. “Jake Fromm has struggled. Last 4 games, he’s completing [under] 50 percent of his throws. Their best running back…got hurt against Georgia Tech, D’Andre Swift. I think this is a banged-up Georgia offense that has had issues being a big-play offense.”

Cowherd also took time to compliment Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow, who he feels will enjoy a strong game against the Georgia defense.

“Joe Burrow is on fire,” he said. “He’s No. 1 in the nation in virtually everything, he’s got a great O-line, he’s got a stud running back I like (Clyde Edwards-Helaire). LSU’s won 13 straight and they are 4-0 against top 10 teams this year. Coach O has won 8 of his last 9 against top 10 teams.”

Cowherd’s final score prediction was 36-27 in favor of LSU.

“I’m not sure it will feel that close,” he said. “I think LSU’s the better team significantly here.”
