You only need to tune into one Ed Orgeron press conference to realize how much the LSU Tigers mean to the state of Louisiana.

For further proof, just take a look at the Twitter account of Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards, as he released a video congratulating LSU quarterback Joe Burrow on being named a Heisman finalist on Monday.

“No one in the purple and gold has captured hearts and minds of Tiger fans quite like you have” said Edwards.

“I know I may be a little bit biased, but I don’t think there is anyone in the country more deserving of this award than you are” continued Edwards, “I know the entire state is looking forward to you hoisting the Heisman Trophy first, and the national championship trophy next.”

LSU has only had one Heisman winner in school history — Billy Cannon in 1959.

Burrow is going into New York City as the frontrunner that, along with a national title, would complete a dream season for LSU fans.
