It wasn’t very long after LSU’s national championship victory over Clemson that Joe Brady was announced as the new offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

News of Brady’s jump back to the NFL may have occurred a few weeks ago but the way Ed Orgeron tells it, LSU is in no rush to name the program’s next passing game coordinator in Baton Rouge.

During a recent appearance on ESPN Baton Rouge 104.5 FM program “Off The Bench,” Orgeron was asked to share the latest on LSU’s ongoing search to replace Brady.

“I’m taking my time, to be honest with you – has to be the right fit,” Coach O said on the show. “Obviously, we have a list of names, have some great candidates out there. We are going to start interviewing guys maybe as early as next week.”

One interesting name that Orgeron mentioned was former LSU analyst Jorge Munoz. Munoz is no longer on staff in Baton Rouge as he followed Dave Aranda to Baylor to become a full-time assistant with the Bears but Orgeron would not rule out bringing Munoz back as a full-time assistant at LSU.

“Jorge Munoz was a big key for us, we lost him, he went to Baylor. Dave (Aranda) made a good hire there but he would still be a candidate to come back,” Orgeron noted. “I’m going to look at all the guys we have and we are going to get the best for LSU.”

That’s certainly an interesting comment from Orgeron as Munoz was among the few coaches that accompanied Joe Burrow to New York for the 2019 Heisman Trophy ceremony. The others? Orgeron, Brady and LSU offensive coordinator Steven Ensminger.

If Burrow thought Munoz belonged in that class, it makes sense that Orgeron would share the same opinion.
