Georgia may have just signed the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for the 2020 cycle but the Bulldogs have work to do to rise in the 2021 cycle as the program just lost a commitment from North Carolina native Jared Wilson.

The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Wilson committed to Kirby Smart’s program back in November but recently received scholarship offers from Arkansas, where Sam Pittman now coaches, Florida State and North Carolina. Wilson also visited North Carolina’s campus, which he mentions in his statement below.

247Sports Composite Rankings list Wilson as the No. 16 offensive guard in the nation and a top 400 overall prospect.

The three-star prospect released the following statement explaining his decision to open up his recruitment:

“Georgia remains one of the top choice for my college academic and football career but at this time, my family and I believe that we need to fully explore all the options that are available. I have an immense amount of respect for the University of Georgia and for their interest in me. It was hard for me to say I was committed to UGA while visiting other schools. At this time, I am reopening my recruitment and decommitting from the University of Georgia. No interviews please.”

The Bulldogs are now down to just two commitments for the 2021 recruiting cycle but they both come from elite prospects as five-star quarterback Brock Vandagriff and four-star athlete David Daniel are the lone commitments in Georgia’s class at this time.
