Jordan Burch is officially a South Carolina Gamecock, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Burch sent in his National Letter of Intent Thursday night allowing South Carolina to release the confirmation via Twitter. The Columbia native and 5-star defensive lineman is the second-highest rated recruit to ever sign with the Gamecocks behind just Jadeveon Clowney.

Will Muschamp released a statement Thursday evening commenting on Burch’s signing.

“It’s a great way to close out our 2020 signing class with Jordan Burch deciding to stay home and play for the University of South Carolina,” Muschamp said in a statement. “He is a wonderful person and I’m excited that he will be part of the Gamecock family. We really appreciate his mother, Henri, trusting us and sending her son to the in-state school. Jordan is an explosive athlete, extremely smart and versatile player who can do a lot of things on the football field and I can’t wait to coach him.”

Burch is ranked as the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect, the No. 2 defensive tackle and the state of South Carolina’s top overall prospect for the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defender signed with South Carolina over LSU and Clemson.
