If Albert Okwuegbunam wasn’t already at the top of the tight end draft board for the 2020 NFL Draft, he likely is now.

The former Missouri standout has been touted as a freak of nature for some time now and after spurning the opportunity to make the early jump to the 2019 NFL Draft, Okwuegbunam did just that following his junior season in Columbia.

It appears his decision to go back to school has paid off in a big way as Okwuegbunam just registered the fourth-fastest 40-yard dash for a tight end at the NFL Combine dating back to 2003. Okwuegbunam ran a 4.49 40-yard dash on his first attempt and a 4.50 40-yard dash on his second attempt.

Of course, running fast as the wind and being 6-foot-5 and 258-pounds is great, but the fact that Okwuegbunam has that speed and frame combined with a solid history of production on the field is what makes him such a rare athlete.

In his three years on the field for Mizzou, Okwuegbunam caught 98 passes for 1,187 yards and 23 touchdowns.

There’s no doubt he was already on the tight end board for all NFL teams but he may have just jumped to the very top of the list after his 40-yard dash at the combine.
