Rick Barnes’ program just landed a big commitment.

Tennessee projects to have one of the better teams in the SEC next basketball season but one missing ingredient on the team was a big-time, rebounding presence at the forward position.

Well, the Vols now have that as Sacred Heart graduate transfer E.J. Anosike announced his commitment to Tennessee on Friday. Anosike is eligible immediately next season after 15.7 points and 11.6 rebounds per game last season for Sacred Heart.

If you were unaware, Anosike is the younger brother of former Lady Vol and current WNBA player Nicky Anosike.

“I want Thank God and for everyone who helped me get to this point in my career,” Anosike said in his commitment statement. “I am excited for what the future holds for me. With that being said I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Tennessee. I can’t wait to join my family in Knoxville!”

With Tennessee already receiving preseason top 25 recognition looking ahead to the upcoming basketball season, Barnes and company have to like their odds to stay inside the top 25 all season following the addition of Anosike, in addition to five-star signees Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson.
