Mike Leach’s program is starting to heat up on the recruiting trail as Mississippi State has just landed its second commitment in as many days.

The latest good news comes from Lexington, Miss., native Corey Ellington who announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Thursday. Ellington’s decision comes just a day after 6-foot-6, 277-pound offensive lineman Makylan Pounders committed to Leach’s Mississippi State football program.

Rated as a three-star prospect, Ellington is listed at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, the No. 17 overall prospect from Mississippi and the No. 158 receiver nationally by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Ellington’s commitment comes not long after receiving a scholarship offer from Arkansas.

Following this news, Mississippi State now holds eight commitments in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The class ranks No. 7 in the SEC and No. 34 nationally at this time.

Ellington plays both sides of the ball for Holmes County High School at receiver and safety.
