Winning the national championship in Atlanta was naturally going to help the Tigers recruit in Georgia’s largest city and that has proven to be the case in the recruitment of four-star linebacker Zavier Carter.

The Hapeville Charter product announced his commitment to join Ed Orgeron’s LSU program on Friday.

“First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with so many great opportunities and for my parents who helped guide me along my path. I would also like to thank my coaches and teammates for being an instrumental part in me playing the game that I love and for all of their support! Thank you to my trainers for helping develop me in the process and BIG UPS to my HCCA FAMILY! So with all that being said, I will be continuing my education and athletic career at Louisiana State University!!! GO TIGERS”

The 6-foot-4, 193-pound Atlanta native picked LSU over scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miami, Florida State and Notre Dame, among others. 247Sports Composite Rankings rate Carter as the nation’s No. 15 outside linebacker and the No. 202 overall prospect in the country for the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Carter’s commitment gives LSU a total of eight pledges in the 2021 recruiting cycle and elevates the program’s recruiting class inside the top 20 of the national class rankings and No. 4 in the SEC.
