In Saturday’s exciting news, the Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks have agreed to renew the Border War football rivalry, announcing a 4-game series starting in 2025.

The 2 schools haven’t played since Mizzou left the Big 12 for the SEC prior to the 2012 football season, but they’ll soon share the gridiron once again.

In a release from Mizzou, first-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz said he’s excited to get his first experience with the heated rivalry:

“I’m excited for our fans to have the chance to be part of this historical rivalry again,” Drinkwitz said. “I know there has been some time off, but I’m positive the energy and excitement will be there right away for everybody. While I haven’t been part of Mizzou/KU, I have been involved in some pretty intense rivalries and I do believe that is a big part of what makes college football so special to people.”

AD Jim Sterk also issued a statement, saying college sports are better with these types of rivalries being played:

“We are very excited about renewing this historic rivalry that our fans are so passionate about,” Sterk said. “College football is better with rivalries like this, and our fans deserve to have it return. We’re pleased to make this happen, and we look forward to restoring this important tradition at Mizzou.”

We’re still a few years away from these games actually being played, but this will be a lot of fun for fans of both schools.
