More good news for Georgia’s suddenly loaded quarterback room as redshirt freshman D’Wan Mathis has been cleared to return to the practice field for the first time since his emergency brain surgery last year.

Mathis was forced to sit out last season following the procedure. The young signal-caller was named co-winner of David Jacobs Award (overcoming injury), during the team’s most recent awards gala.

News of Mathis’ being cleared to return to the field was first reported by Mike Griffith of Dawg Nation.

A Michigan native, Mathis signed with the Bulldogs after flipping his commitment from Ohio State to Georgia leading up to the 2019 Early Signing Period. He was selected as an Elite 11 Finalists and was rated as a four-star prospect coming out of Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Mich.
